WINNIPEG — The massive tornado that touched down Monday night in southwestern Manitoba has been given a preliminary rating of a high end EF2.
The scale runs from EF0 to EF5.
Environment Canada released a preliminary assessment of the storm Wednesday afternoon and said the system produced a “large, violent tornado”.
The twister touched down at 8:30 pm near route 254 between Pierson and Tilston. It is believed to have stayed on the ground for over two hours.
Environment Canada meteorologists are still in the damaged area surveying the aftermath.
They are asking anyone who has pictures of the tornado or damage to email email@example.com or to call 1-800-239-0484.
A final report on the storm still has to be produced.
